Relaxation and restoration

Sam and I just spent 3 days at one of our favorite places with 2 of our favorite people relaxing and enjoying ourselves without kids, responsibility, or crazy schedules. My mom spent the weekend with our kids and Sam's parents spent the weekend with his brother's kids. We went up to the cabin Friday night (arriving to 38 degree temp INSIDE the cabin - Sam built us a nice fire), and came back yesterday. Our time was spent being lazy, going out to dinner, sipping on coffee without interruption, having great conversations, playing games, sledding, and snowmobiling. We missed the kids but also soaked up the time we had not having to worry about naps, bedtimes, meal times, or getting up early. We basically did what we wanted when we wanted. It sounds so selfish writing this but it was really nice being able to be selfish without feeling guilty.... if that makes sense. The cabin is such a retreat and wonderful place to visit winter or summer. Snowmobiling was a highlight after a night of freshly fallen snow. Being away from home helps you appreciate it so much more and we were so happy to get home to our kids. Thanks mom for giving us such a gift watching and caring for our children while we were away!
