November celebrations

So even though it's November... our iris that we got for free the first year we moved into our home as a welcome gift from our local nursery ... is blooming! This iris is amazing because it blooms twice a year and even after splitting it this spring and transplanting it, it is blooming now. Couldn't have asked for a better gift!

D.A.N.K. Convention

For those of you who didn't know, my dad is national president of a German American organization known as DANK. This organization has a national convention once a year and since my dad is recognized for his accomplishments Sam and I decided we would attend this year to support him. It was also DANK's 50th anniversary and my dad has been a part of it for about 40 years. My brother and mom are also involved in many things within the organization including creating and updating the website (www.dank.org), putting together the newspapers, and many other things. So, Sam and I got to dress up (black tie event), dine on filet mignon and chocolate fondue, and dance to a live German band. It was fun to be able to take a part in this special occasion, support my dad, and join some crazy German's in celebrating our heritage.
