We went to yet another birthday party this summer - our good friends Jim & Sara (our Milwaukee friends) have a little boy Lukas who turned 1 a few days ago. They had his party on Saturday and we drove up to celebrate. We left rainy weather here to a beautiful day there and enjoyed catching up with friends, yummy food, birthday fun, and Lauren got to play in the water (one of her favorite things these days). She did great on the ride up and back (slept both ways) and I think that this girl really likes party's. Maybe it's just that she's been able to enjoy some cake or some sort of sweet each time!

Today my friend Jennifer came over for a morning bike ride. We rode almost 13 miles total and just a mile or so before we made it back we got poured on! I was so wet that I could feel my socks squishing in my shoes with each pedal stroke. Despite the rain I really enjoyed the ride and it was actually one of my favorite parts of the day. Riding in rain like that isn't ideal but who knows what the weather will be like on race day. Later in the morning after Lauren got up from her nap we went to the park and she was able to swing to her hearts content. This is another thing she just LOVES to do. We put her down for another quick nap in the afternoon and then met some friends (Justin, Jennifer, their daughter Emma and Jennifer's mom) at a water park close to our home. We all had fun and of course Lauren was in her element. The kid pool and lazy river were highlights. Just before a storm rolled in we headed back home for some dinner, bath, and early bedtime.
