So our new bedroom furniture finally arrived last weekend after 9 weeks of waiting for it to be made. Our bedroom now feels like a sanctuary and it is "ours". We had borrowed all of the previous furniture from grandparents who no longer needed it but did have our own
mattress that we bought a year before we got married (yes
that's right - I got to sleep on it for the first year all by myself!!!). So we decided that before we had kids to spoil we would spoil ourselves. We looked at every furniture store there was to see including stores in WI. Nothing we saw interested us except for a few sets at PM Bedroom Gallery. Of course it had to be one of the most expensive stores there is since everything is made to order and built by hand by Amish makers. But...we figured we would have this set for the rest of our lives (or close there to it). It comes with a 300yr
guarantee - yes 300 years - so I guess we can pass it down through generations if its so desired.
The first couple of days after the delivery our bedroom smelled like wood. Something I didn't really think about or expect. We love everything and couldn't be happier. And hey, we could even stand in our drawers if we wanted to. (something they have you do in the store to show you the strength of their drawers).
Some friends of ours are taking our old headboard set and we're donating the dressers to a local Christian charity. So though the furniture had some family attachment we are helping other's enjoy what we did for years.
Our mattress was delivered last night from
Verlo and it was so awesome sleeping on a king sized mattress. I didn't think it would feel so impressive since we had slept on that size when staying in hotels before but it did. Sam and I weren't playing tug-o-war with the covers and no elbows in the face is a plus!
