It's been a long time tradition in my family to attend events that have to do with our German heritage. One of these events is Milwaukee's German Fest. We used to take a bus every year with a group of people to the festival, stay all day, watch fireworks and make our way back. It was always an exhausting ordeal. Sam and I didn't go last year and so we thought it would be fun to go this year - driving ourselves this time. My dad (being the president of the national German organization called D.A.N.K) had free tickets for entry and parking. They had a sponsor tent there this year so they were there Thursday through Sunday working. We showed up just in time to grab a schnitzel sandwich for lunch and we enjoyed ourselves walking around taking in the German music and culture. There was a parade, dachshund dog races, and a pretty awesome air show going on this year. Our friends Jim and Sara who live in Milwaukee met us there for the air show and dinner. It was a great day and we even got 1000 thread count sheets for $20-30 out of the deal (don't ask my why they're selling this at a German Fest).
We stayed with our friends that night, grabbed breakfast out the next morning, and then Sam and I spent the day shopping around for bedroom furniture. We have expensive taste and really like the sets at PM Bedroom Gallery. The price is definitely not cheap so we'll have to see what our bonuses come in at the end of this summer!
