Lauren has been changing so much over the past month! She's so close to crawling but prefers to stand and walk holding onto our hands of course. There have been times when we've left the room with her sitting playing with her toys and find her half way across the room playing with something else (like a cell phone) while standing at the coffee table! Still she'll rock back and forth on her knees, get onto her feet and hands, turn 180 degrees this way and that, and launch herself forward back onto her belly to get at something...but no crawling that we've seen. This little girl has a mind and will of her own! We've started moving things down into our almost finished basement (should be completed the end of this week) but otherwise our main level is mostly childproofed. Lauren really wants to be on the move but we'll see what comes first... crawling or walking!
Lauren got another bottom tooth next to her bottom front left. Top look like they'll be coming soon. She tends to get a fever, cranky and doesn't eat well when her teeth are coming in making things a little difficult on our happy baby girl! She weighs about 19-20 pounds now, says dada, mama, baba, and loves to scream "HI"! She decides when she wants to wave bye bye and just recently started pointing at our noses when prompted "where's daddy's/mommy's nose?". Her favorite toys are her standing Leap Frog play music table, soft blocks and cube, a plastic cup, stacking cups, and books. She prefers exploring her environment these days over just sitting and playing.
We now turn a nose up to ANY baby food and she loves to eat grilled cheese, pizza, puffs, dried and any fresh fruit, yogurt, cooked veggies, graham crackers, cheerios, and pretty much anything we're eating! We've cut out one nursing feeding a day (out of 5) and she's taken really well to formula (Gerber Goodstart Gentle) but likes to take it ~2 oz at a time over ~10-30 minutes. Constipation is still an issue if we don't give her her daily dose of prune juice with flax oil (I'm just thankful we found something natural that works).
Lauren still sleeps like a champ - 2 naps and 12 hour stretches at night! I was amazed at the cracks of thunder she slept through the other day. She prefers to have at least one paci she can reach out and hold in her crib and one in her mouth. I haven't noticed a security object interest developing yet. Books have become a favorite pre-sleep routine.
Lauren still loves to laugh, talk, and knows how to make our hearts melt! The past 10 months have been such an eye opening and challenging yet wonderful experience so far. I'm so looking forward to all the exciting things to come this summer!
