Sam planned an amazing getaway weekend for my birthday (and his since we're a day apart) in Galena, IL. We did bring Noah since he's so young and nursing; plus he's easy at this age still. Sam reserved a romantic package at Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa on Galena Lake which included a suite, breakfast in bed, champaign & chocolates, a nice dinner for 2, and late checkout time until 2pm! I have to say that he did a very nice job on this one! We had dinner the first night enjoying steaks and martini's, took a nice walk and went to bed early. On Saturday we didn't leave our room until after 11am since we got to enjoy room service and breakfast in bed consisting of belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, omelet, coffee, orange juice and champaign, muffin, croissant, hash browns, sausages & bacon. Very tasty! Afterwards we left for downtown Galena and spent the afternoon browsing the shops and people watching. We ended the evening ordering a pizza on location (very good) in and watching a movie. I followed that with a nice relaxing bath in the jacuzzi tub while sipping on my champaign.
Since we got a late checkout we had a relaxing morning today again and enjoyed a Sunday brunch which was delicious before heading back home. Thank you to my loving husband for planning a wonderful birthday weekend away.
Lauren got to enjoy spending the weekend with her nana and opa as they spent time with her swimming in the pool, checking out airplanes at DuPage Airport (making Opa's day), attending parties, and getting spoiled. She was a very happy girl every time we spoke on the phone! We are both looking forward to her coming home tomorrow though as we miss her so.
