Milestones reached over the past month include:
Crawling, pulling to stand, cruising along furniture, climbing stairs, feeding herself with a fork and spoon, and she holds her own sippy cup and bottle. Lauren LOVES to walk holding onto our hands and if we stop before she decides she is done she'll point her head down and shake it back and forth in protest. Her new mobility has made nap time more difficult because she'll crawl around and stand in her crib. What used to take maybe 3-5 minutes to fall asleep now can take up to 20-30. I've learned through reading that napping troubles typically arise around the 10 month period and they have. Lauren used to take 2 - 2 hour naps a day but she started to have some difficulty. We've begun limiting her morning nap to an hour so she'll nap well in the afternoon (she was napping 2 hours in the morning and refusing an afternoon nap) and for the most part that works. One of the things driving me crazy is that frequently she'll poop after I put her down or it will wake her up after an hour of napping in the afternoon. I guess it's just something that will work itself out but it's super frustrating since it prevents her from napping well!
I now only nurse her in the morning and at bedtime and she usually gets 2 bottles during the day still. We have started to put her formula into her sippy cup in the afternoon to begin getting her off the bottle completely. I don't that it's going to be as hard as weaning her off her beloved paci someday! Lauren has 6 teeth now but you don't get to see them unless she's really laughing hard or making a funny face. She loves brushing her teeth and of course prefers to do it herself! She has become more picky about what she eats and with that will love something one week and be uninterested in the same thing the next week. I pretty much give her anything and keep trying things. She's not a fan of our veggies but will still eat it in puree form. Cheerios, puffs, graham crackers, cheese, and yogurt still tend to be some of her favorites.
One of the biggest things for me is that my sweet girl is no longer constipated! No more prune juice, flax oil, or limiting her diet! You would never guess it was ever an issue these days.
Lauren has brought so much joy to us in these past 11 months. Though being a mother has been one of the most difficult things I've had to endure, it's been one of the most gratifying, rewarding, and happy times in my life. Happy 11 months old to my baby girl!!!
